An Update on DC’s Earth One Books!

Posted March 28, 2014 by Jean-Luc Botbyl in Comic Books

So remember when DC had this amazing plan to put out a ton of Earth One books, that would re-imagine their characters in a more realistic setting, one that would be very accessible to to new readers? It was a line that had a great deal of potential, and love them or hate them, Batman Earth One and Superman Earth One (volumes 1 & 2) sold quite well. Ever since the release of Superman Earth One, we’ve been hearing about DC’s plans to release a second volume of Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s Batman Earth One, a third volume of JMS’ Superman Earth One, and an origin story for Wonder Woman on Earth One from Grant Morrison and Yannick Paquette.

All three of these books were initially scheduled to release over the course of 2013 and 2014, however, 2013 ended without a single new entry in the line. And, due to a lack of information coming from DC, it was assumed that this situation would probably be repeated this year.  However, Dan DiDio has confirmed that this will not be the case! However, the Earth One book we will be getting may not be the one we expected.

That being said, it’s definitely one worth getting excited over. This new entry will come from writer Jeff Lemire and artist Terry Dodson, and will focus on the Earth One iteration of the Teen Titans. This graphic novel is scheduled to hit stores on November 19th of this year.

However, the other three Earth One graphic novels have been pushed back to 2015, and DiDio essentially confirmed that they will all come out at some point next year.
