DC Unveils 2015 Animated Movie Plans

Based off of the teaser at the end of Justice League: War, and the subsequent announcement, we’ve known that 2015 will see DC release an animated movie based off of Throne of Atlantis. However, until SDCC this weekend, we had no information about what the other animated movies released in 2015 would be. This is in keeping with their typical three movie a year plan. The deviation, however, is that there will actually be two Justice League movies released in 2015, rather than two solo movies, as has been the norm for some time.

In addition to the previously announced Justice League movie, we will also be seeing Batman vs. Robin and Justice League: Gods and Monsters. Both of these names are misnomers, really. (Imagine how disappointed I was to discover that Gods and Monsters isn’t an adaptation of Brian Wood’s exceptional series of the same name he wrote for Wildstorm). Regardless, there is still reason to be excited about this movie, as it features the return of Bruce Timm. However, he won’t be working in the animation department. Instead, he will be responsible for plotting and writing the movie, which is entirely original, and not an adaptation of any existing material.

Batman vs. Robin, on the other hand, will be adapted from the storyline of the same name. Err… actually… it’s going to be loosely based off of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Court of Owls story line. Because that makes sense, right?

Anyways, that’s all the information that was released. You can expect these movies to be released sometime in the second two-thirds of 2015. Until then, sound off in the comments below with your thoughts on the announcements!
