Hitman Wants You to Kill Gary Busey or Gary Cole

Hitman giveth, Hitman taketh away.

Square Enix and IO-Interactive are trying to make the episodic formula work for Hitman, but so far, it hasn’t been a perfect success. Sure, episode one was pretty great, please read our review, but some of the promised features haven’t been added yet.

Unfortunately, IO announced this week that the long-awaited Elusive Contracts mode—one-attempt assassinations—will be delayed for a time and will most likely show up when the Italian episode is released next month. In its stead, IO will be adding more Escalation missions where you have to pull off an assassination with only a set number of weapons. For example, one mission requires you to only use a knife and a blade. The first mission set in Cuba was fun, and I’m very interested to see how the others turn out. Also, IO is releasing a Vampire Magician challenge map that requires Agent 47 to take out his enemies while wearing a goofy outfit. However, this isn’t the strangest addition to Hitman.

IO announced this week that they would be releasing a new mission this summer with a unique twist. The target will be either Gary Cole (Archer, Tammy, Suits) or Gary Busey (Point Break, Entourage, Jake Busey’s dad). According to the official YouTube video, both Gary’s are worthy of assassination, but it’s up to the fans to figure out who the victim will be by voting on Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus.

This is a fairly weird way to build momentum for an episodic game, but I can’t fault IO for thinking outside the box. Hitman is really fun, and I will accept any reason to get back in that world.

Now, the real question is “which Gary should die? Should you vote for the crazy-eyed, psychopath responsible for those terrifying Amazon Fire Stick commercials, or should you vote for the man who abandoned Ricky Bobby during Career Day? I personally voted for Gary Cole, partially because I find him entertaining, but mostly because I don’t like seeing Gary Busey in any form. He’s one scary fella.

You can vote for your favorite Gary at Chooseyourhit.com. If you haven’t checked it out yet, Hitman is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC for the $14.99 intro pack or the $59.99 full experience.
