Developer: Color Mystic

Publisher: SNK

Release date: March 17, 2021

Available on: Nintendo Switch

10 games to choose from (Big Tournament Golf, Dark Arms: Beast Buster, Fatal Fury First Contact, SNK Gals’ Fighters, King of Fighters R-2, SNK vs Capcom: The Match of the Millenium, Samurai Shodown 2, The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny, Metal Slug 1st Mission, Metal Slug 2nd Mission)

Each game comes with a manual to learn controls and rules

Difficulty levels can be chosen in the options

Not a lot of variety in genres (mostly fighting games)

Mixed bag of quality and fun to play

Some games need to exit completely out of compilation to choose another game

Inconsistent controls (some games control well, others not so much)

May appeal only to those who owned a NeoGeo Pocket Color

Overall, not a bad little collection, but your enjoyment may stem more from nostalgia if you owned the console. The lack of variety of genres also may be a turn off to some, though if you love fighting games you’ll be satisfied. Games can be a mixed bag, and how much gameplay one gets out of the compilation will again depend on their nostalgia factor.

7/10 stars
