The Comic Wish List: January 14th 2015

Welcome to the twenty sixth instalment of the wish list bringing you what comics we, Comics Section Editors Oscar Russell & Joel Raivid, are looking forward to each and every week. So if you are deciding how to spend your money this week on New Comic Book Day, don’t worry, we got you covered!!

Oscar and I hope you are enjoying the new comics podcast which you can check out by subscribing on iTunes. Last week saw the release of some huge comics, while this week DC are very light in content, however Marvel have some good stuff coming out with the second issue of S.H.I.E.L.D., a special Avengers title, and the last Spider-Verse main tie in. From other publishers we have Deep State from Justin Jordan at BOOM! to look forward to and hopefully the next/last issue of Jupiter’s Legacy (fingers crossed).

Here are a handful we are particularly looking forward to and think you should pick up!

DC

supermanww15Superman/Wonder Woman #15

Written by: Peter J. Tomasi

When this series started out it was a breath of fresh air in DCs line up. A year or so later the series has definitely gone through a lot of changes, mainly due to all the Doomed tie ins. But now with Tomasi having taken over things feel a little more settled and the tone of the book has definitely improved the quality and story as a whole. Last issue we discovered that Wonderstar is actually the villain Magog, and if he’s anything like his pre-New 52 version, then he will be a huge problem for Superman and Wonder Woman. So this is definitely worth a read this week in my opinion.

MARVEL

Star Wars returns!! It’s not like it hasn’t been around for years with Dark Horse, but things just feel a little different now that Marvel has the rights. Things are definitely on the up for Star Wars fans as people are getting more and more excited so the release of a new series is well timed, and Marvel have spared nothing bringing in a hugely talented creative team to work on this book. The series begins right after Episode IV and this gives the team a chance to create a lot of stories as there is quite a big time gap between Episode IV and V. If you are a Star Wars fan then you definitely don’t want to miss out on this!

Ding Dong Ding Dong, go the wedding bells in this all out Ghosted wedding spectacular. To be honest, I have no idea what is going to go down in this book this week as the solicit gave very little away, however based on how this series has been as a whole, I am just reminding everyone that this book exists and you should be buying it. After all, if the name on the front cover doesn’t make you want to read it, I don’t know what will!

Which books are you looking forward to this Wednesday, let us know in the comments……
