Welcome to the twenty first instalment of the weekly feature bringing you comic book previews on what we are looking forward to each and every week. Brought to you by our Comics Section Editors, Oscar Russell & Joel Raivid, with the general rule being that they will pick one indie, one DC and one Marvel and if merited an honorable mention (or two) that they think you should go and splash your cash on.

So if you are deciding how to spend your money this week on New Comic Book Day, don’t worry, we got you covered!! Here are a handful we think you should pick up!

DC

STK635363Superman Unchained #9

Written by: Scott Snyder

Art by: Jim Lee

Buying this just for the incredible wraparound cover is worth it alone! However, in what has been one of Superman’s strongest storylines in recent history, this is the epic conclusion and one I have been looking forward to reading. I really don’t know what this final issue will bring, we have the continuation of Superman vs. Wraith, and throw in Lex Luthor and his ‘ultimate weapon’ what we will read and see will definitely be huge and this is one not to miss out on if you have been following the series. Also who knows when we will next see some Jim Lee art, so go pick it up!!

MARVEL

ASM2014009-DC11-LR-ef674Amazing Spider-Man #9

Written by: Dan Slott

Art by: Olivier Coipel

It’s finally here!!! Spider-Verse!! This has been a long time coming, but it certainly hasn’t been a hard wait as we have been treated to some excellent storytelling in the one-shots of Edge of Spider-Verse and other tie-ins. If you haven’t been following so far, some big evil is threatening the lives of all the Spider-People throughout the multiverse, and it’s up to them to come together to defeat the big bad. This is definitely one of the biggest storylines attempted at any publisher in a while, and I for one am truly excited to see what comes of it, and the aftermath (eventually).

INDIE

NAILBITER-07-b2cd0-74950Nailbiter #7

Written by: Joshua Williamson

Art by: Mike Henderson

Publisher: Image

Joshua Williamson has (as far as I am aware) 3 books out this week, all so different, and all so equally amazing, so it was hard to choose which one we think you should pick up if you can only get one. Birthright #1 set the scene for a really intriguing and novel story which the second issue has me really excited for, however, Nailbiter is without a doubt my favourite series on the shelves at the moment. If you are not reading this series go catch up as the first TPB is out now, and if you are up to date, this issue should be a treat. It is no secret that Brian Michael Bendis is going to be in this issue, and that alone is worth the cover price! Put that together with all the crazy creepiness of the story, the incredible art and fantastic twists told, this is a must have this week, and any week that Nailbiter comes out.

Which books are you looking forward to this Wednesday, let us know in the comments……
