I’m gonna be honest with you—The Sixth Gun is pretty weird. Zombies and creepy demons take an otherwise normal western adventure and just mix everything up. The series also gets a little confusing at times when you discover that there are multiple storylines set in different time periods. Thankfully, all of these storylines eventually tie together and are uniquely interesting. Of course, it helps that the main subjects of the series are six guns that have supernatural powers. For example, one gun can raise the dead. Each gun is powerful, but combining all six can actually destroy the world.
This may seem like a fairly common storyline, but The Sixth Gun is anything but common. Many of the characters have special powers that give them the ability to wield the guns, and they are somehow the most normal. There is an assortment of interesting characters populating the world of The Sixth Gun, and most of them are pretty fun. Kalfu—a demonic gatekeeper—brings almost all of the comic relief. Granted, there isn’t much humor in this series, but that’s not bad.
The Sixth Gun is super weird, but I enjoyed reading every single issue of the series. Westerns are really fun, and they get better when you add in the crazy supernatural elements. I didn’t enjoy any series in 2015 as much as The Sixth Gun.
