UPDATE: Vince Zampella finally confirmed a Titanfall beta on Twitter tonight: “#supersecret announcement time. I’m sure no on has been able to guess from the leaks. PC and XboxOne Beta! Details in the coming days.”

Earlier today reports surfaced in France regarding a possible release date for a Titanfall beta. According to Xboxygen, Respawn’s highly anticipated shooter will be playable for select users for six days, starting February 14 and concluding on February 19.

Xboxygen first reported the news after receiving pictures that supposedly came from a Micromania store. The pictures show Titanfall posters announcing the beta and its dates, while also providing more details as to the necessary requirements for participation. According to the posters, the beta will be made available to consumers who pre-order the game from Micromania and GameStop stores.

Respawn has not yet confirmed this news, although the company’s founder and studio head Vince Zampella tweeted shortly after: “Yes, we will have an announcement soon. I’m sure no one can guess what it will be… #supersecret.” Zampella’s sarcastic statement only adds fuel to the fire, and seems to indicate that the reported rumors are in fact true.

In recent weeks, Respawn has received some fan-based criticism following the details regarding the game’s multiplayer-only approach, and the announcement that matches would allow a maximum of six human players on each team—with the remaining players being bots. If this beta is in fact a reality, it will allow consumers to test the game—and these unpopular components—prior to the actual release date.

Titanfall is set to be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on March 11 in North America, and March 13 in Europe and Australia. The game is one of the most anticipated of 2014, and promises to be a highly entertaining, truly next-gen shooter.  For now, though, all we can do is wait and hope to learn more.
