PROS:
+ Interesting concepts
+ Easy to pick up gameplay
+ Some interesting visuals
CONS:
– Despite interesting story idea, moves very slowly
– So-so and repetitive gameplay
– Very barren and blank
IN SUMMARY:
If you like the original game, you’ll like the remaster, if not, the remaster won’t change your mind. The core ideas and use of theology is super interesting, but it is so barren with repetitive gameplay that it gets boring fast. It was hard to find something to keep me moving through the game. Some of the minimalistic art, I can appreciate but still would have liked a bit more. El Shaddai is not a bad game at all though. There’s a chance it may just not be for me at this time. There’s definitely kernels of solid stuff in there and it is unique. It is worth giving a shot. Try and go in with no expectations and you could be pleasantly surprised. Overall, I would rate the game a solid 7.5 out of 10.
