The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been around for years, and guess what? They are still as entertaining now, as they were then. Issue thirty-five didn’t give me a single let down, and I was truly bummed when the last page appeared.
Waltz gives us a two sentence recap, reminding us readers that the turtles are in the mist of reaching out to possible allies against The Foot. We catch a conversation between Raph and Mikey on how upsetting it is to Raph that Leo and Splinter are in cahoots with Hob. One quick thing leads to another and the two of them appear at Hob’s front door, pizza in hand. Nice lengthy pages are spent at Hob’s apartment, with great communication between the turtles, Hob, and some other unlikely guests. Waltz then takes a break to give us a fantastic few pages of action, which involve Casey and his father. Santolouco does an amazing job with keeping the images clean, clear, and even though most of the coloring is subdued, very lively and entertaining.
Being honest, a huge amount of information and evolution of this plot line appear in issue thirty- five. Hob’s has a big plan for fellow mutants, and he seems to be getting the turtles on his side. At first I wondered to myself if this issue was a bit drawn-out with it’s conversation. I promptly changed my mind once I realized how bloody interesting Waltz made this issue!
Hands down, this is a must have. TMNT Ongoing will continue to be ongoing as long as they keep this kind of work up!
