Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. are already developing a sequel to Godzilla.
This move should come as no surprise after the movie had an opening weekend of $93 Million domestic. Godzilla also had the biggest opening day of the year, beating Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
In an interview with Deadline, director Gareth Edwards said that he would show the same restraint during the second film that he used while making Godzilla, a move he learned by watching Steven Spielberg movies. Edwards used this restraint to show little more than small glimpses of Godzilla mixed with civilian reactions for a good portion of the film.
We don’t know when the sequel will begin filming, or the subject for that matter, but fans can dream about potential Kaiju matchups while watching Godzilla, in theaters now.
