Ladies and Gentlemen, we have hit a high point. This week’s Gotham was Great! There I said it. And it only got better the longer the episode went. Last week we got to meet Firefly and, all in all, it was a sturdy episode that built up sympathy for this poor girl being tortured by her pyro brothers. Terrified of fire, she decides to use it to her advantage. And this week we got to see the sad conclusion (but not really.) to this girls story. Plus we got to see Galavant seemingly out play Penguin, and Nigma’s plot finally had some weight to it.
I’ve harangued Edward Nigma’s plot from the start; it’s been a weak spot and often unattached part of this shows the long list of characters. But this week I finally felt some empathy for both Ms. Kringle and Nigma. Obviously it all happened at the end of this episode where he finally spills the beans and tells her that he murdered her asshole Ex. He just couldn’t keep it to himself, he had to go and ruin a good thing. But as soon as she found out of course she doesn’t believe him at first but then after finding out the truth she rightfully freaks out! And a little part of me felt bad for Nigma at that moment. Because the episode had set up nicely that Kringle doesn’t think he’s forceful enough, and even comments on the fact that Edward couldn’t possibly stand up to her ex but that was just too much for Nigma to bear. He needed her to know. And then on top of that he wants so badly for to understand and not leave that he ends up killing her in the process her life drains away as he professes his love to her. Very tragic stuff.

“Stumpy”
I would love to see this show now start to build Riddler to either the next big Villian on Gotham or at least show him as threat. Riddler is my favorite Batman villain, so maybe I’ve been so tough on this character’s portrayal because of that but with this sad and touching set up it would be nice to see the lens shift from Penguin. Speaking of Penguin, he continues to be blinded by his mother and that fact may end up killing her. The fact that his plan probably backfired and Butch is now on Galavand’s side is a pretty great revelation. because c’mon lets be honest. why on earth would Galavand believe that story Butch told at the start of the episode he’s far to smart for that and it would have undercut all his scheming so far this season.
The tag at the end revealing that Gotham has a secret hospital underneath the city creating bad guys makes so much sense but at the same time annoys me. Why on earth would all these crazy criminals keep coming out of the woodwork if not for a creepy hospital? Bruce Continues his training with Alfred and by this pacing he will be Batman by 16 and by the looks of this city he needs to work faster. Since Gotham is infested with child criminals, it needs a tiny Batman. Also on separate note. I Did genuinely laugh at Bullock retort to Gordon about the dead Pike Brothers
