In a debut trailer today, Travelers Tales’ announced what is set to be the newest entry in their extensive list of Lego games; Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Beyond Gotham is set to serve as a sequel to 2012’s Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes. It will pick up on the end credits scene, which saw Braniac observing Earth from another galaxy, alerted to the presence of the numerous superheroes present on the planet. And now, he’s coming to our galaxy, with the goal of miniaturising hundreds of cities, before destroying their home planets, apparently using the power of the Green Lantern rings to achieve this goal.
Beyond Gotham will be an intergalactic adventure, seeing Batman and numerous other DC characters (such as Robin and Superman) moving planet to planet in an attempt to collect all of the Green Lantern rings before Braniac can use them to achieve his wicked ends. In addition, we will see “the power of the Lantern rings bring unexpected twists to classic characters’ personalities.” What could this mean? Will we see a Blue Lantern Joker? A Red Lantern Superman? OTHER CONTINUITY DEFYING MISHAPS? Who knows? Either way, you’ll be able to find in spring of this year!
Finally, there will be over 150, as in 1-5-0 playable characters, a massive step up from the previous Lego Batman game, although on-par with last year’s Lego Marvel Superheroes.
