Update to Story: Major Nelson has officially unveiled that the Achievements update will be part of their next monthly update in July. In addition to the software update to the Achievements app detailed in the original story, in July there will be the option to bring up Snap Center. Snap Center is an area where you can launch any of the snappable apps by double tapping the Xbox button on your controller. This will make it easier for those without Kinect to utilize the full functionality of their console in an easy way. Microsoft obviously expects there to be a large amount of consumers opting for the Kinectless Xbox One.
The other three updates are quoted directly from Xbox Wire:
- Choice of Spoken Language. Folks in New Zealand, Ireland and Austria, with this update in July, will be able to select voice control using the English or German voice models from other countries. And if you’re an expat in an English-speaking country, you, too, can choose any of the other English language models that fit you.
- Future Digital Bundles and Compilation Discs. We’re doing some work now so that publishers will have options for great digital bundle and disc compilation offerings in the future. As we test this feature, we’ll be seeing more flexible combinations of game titles and game content.
- ‘Like’ Game DVR clips. We’re adding the ability to ‘Like’ all your favorite Game DVR clips as well as activity feed items in SmartGlass.

Original Story
In a day packed with game news coming out of Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft press conferences, Major Nelson unveiled some significant changes that are coming to the achievement app on the Xbox One. Fans have been clamoring to see an easier way to access achievements since the console launched in November. Currently, if you want to view achievements on Xbox One during games the app completely takes you out of your gameplay . With the upcoming changes this will no longer be the case.
Snappable App
Achievements are now snappable. In this view players can view the list of achievments available for the game they are playing, sorted by completion percentage. The achievements also update in real-time.
View Individual Achievements in Snap Mode
Once in snap mode you can view details of individual achievements simply by pressing the appropriate one in the snapped window
Search for Achievement Help
A handy feature they’re debuting alongside the update is the ability to search for help in completing an achievement right from your television via Bing. Second screen device no longer needed to look up a guide.
