Nintendo Unveils New 3DS Models

Nintendo has unveiled what they are calling New Nintendo 3DS, and New Nintendo 3DS LL (LL is XL in Japan) These brand new models feature a small second Circle Pad called the C-stick. A new feature that tracks your head so the 3D sweet spot moves with you so no more blurry double images when you tilt the system. An improved CPU (Which speeds up Miiverse, and The e-shop), better battery life, 2 more shoulder buttons, built in NFC, and for the New 3DS (Not LL) exchangeable cover plates. The new systems also have a rearranged layout of the home button, power button, volume switch, start button, select button, and even the cartridge slot. As well as a switch the micro SD cards. They also feature an improved web browser that uses html 5. While also featuring enhanced data management by communicating with your PC over a local network. Due to the improved CPU a port of Xenoblade Chronicles will be coming exclusively to these new models. They release in Japan this October, but not in the West till 2015. Also in a related note Custom Menu themes are coming to the 3DS in an update later this year.

In my humble opinion, this is awesome. It sucks to have to wait till 2015. But these new features are great. I honestly think this adds years to the 3DS life-cycle. I always upgrade my Nintendo portables and this time will be no different. It will suck for those who refuse or can’t upgrade. Since it seems some new games may end up coming out exclusively on the new hardware. But as a lifelong portable gamer, this is music to my ears. It fixes all the problems with the original 3DS. While adding years to the life-cycle. Not to mention it just looks awesome. Also with the New Custom Menu themes incoming and the Cover plate feature of the New Nintendo 3DS we can have completely unique systems and that is just awesome.
