Deadline has reported that Rian Johnson, director of Looper and Brick, will be writing and directing Star Wars: Episode VIII. Deadline also reported that Johnson would be directing Episode IX as well, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
After the announcement that JJ Abrams would be directing Episode VII, news has been releasing about the following Star Wars movies. Gareth Edwards, known for Godzilla, will be directing a spin-off film, as will Josh Trank.
The upcoming Star Wars films will be released once a year, starting with Episode VII in 2015.
