Star Wars Legacy #17 is the continuing story of Ania Solo, Jao Assam, and their life in the Imperial World. It picks up with Ania and her crew of Stormtroopers finding the abandoned planet where Darth Wredd has brought Jao in an effort to recruit him. Unfortunately for Darth Wredd, a rogue group of Sith has also tracked him to the planet, and they have less honorable intentions than Ania does. These groups all meet on the planet, with the addition of the Empress’ Imperial Knights, and a massive battle breaks out.
Star Wars Legacy #17 was a more entertaining issue than #16, mostly because it included a lot more action and a lot less Jao. Yes, Jao was still a major part of the issue, but his moments were diminished by a focus on Darth Wredd and the Sith who hunted him. Apparently, these Sith were hunting Darth Wredd because he was a big fan of murdering them to protect himself. This approach basically puts Darth Wredd in the middle of two groups who equally hated him, which was a main reason for the massive lightsaber battle.
The only downside of this issue was the lack of feistiness from Ania Solo. Granted, she was more focused on leading troops in battle and not dying, but it still would have been nice to see some more smart aleck comments from her.
Star Wars Legacy #17 was a pretty great bridge issue between the major story moments of #16 and the massive battle of #18. I can’t wait to see how the final battle ends in the next issue.
