Welcome to the nineteenth instalment of the weekly feature bringing you comic book previews on what we are looking forward to each and every week. Brought to you by our Comics Section Editors, Oscar Russell & Joel Raivid, with the general rule being that they will pick one indie, one DC and one Marvel and if merited an honorable mention (or two) that they think you should go and splash your cash on.
So if you are deciding how to spend your money this week on New Comic Book Day, don’t worry, we got you covered!! Here are a handful we think you should pick up!

Another Batman book, yay!! This one is brought to us by Gerry Duggan fresh off the back of his Batman #34 one-shot. So what’s it all about? Well, stemming from Batman Eternal ##30 (which isn’t actually out till next week?!?! Go figure?) Arkham Asylum has imploded and Wayne Manor is the new house for the patients. This book has some seriously good things to play with which is what is so exciting about the series, most obvious the inmates finding the Batcave. But Duggan has 75 years of Batman history to play with here so this series could truly go anywhere, and I for one think this is worth picking up this week.

All change! The new creative team are in, after Greg Ruckas final issue on this brillant series the other week Layman is now at the helm, assisted by one Javier Garron who will be making his début for Marvel comics. The solicits that have come out thus far have not given much away as what direction the series will be heading, but we have been promised action in the form of “Lots of shooting and things blowing up!” so hopefully this will give Garron the chance to spread his wings. The three preview pages that have been released have a very light feel to them and look like something that will be very pleasing to the eye. Good luck guys!

The epic space adventure concludes!! I am really sad this was a miniseries, however, the past 5 issues have been so good. Millar has found the perfect balance of space adventure and character development in this series which has made it a modern classic. Together with Parlov’s excellent visual representation of both earth and Tantalus, this has been one of the best looking books I have seen from a miniseries in a long time. So, despite this being the last issue, we can still expect some great battles and some twists and turns. Let’s hope one day soon Duke might pop up again in another adventure, but for now let’s enjoy this last issue.
Which books are you looking forward to this Wednesday, let us know in the comments……
