It is very nice to see how the consoles have prospered in the past year. However, there always seems something that someone has to nit pick on in order to make a fuss. Some of the things that the PlayStation 4 can improve on are more customization on the users console, better support for inviting friends, and exclusives that are actually good.
We live in a world that we feel the need to customize everything. Some of the better things to customize at least on a console should of been fixed by now. For example, the PlayStation 4 cant change the avatar picture of the person’s profile. We all know how we are getting better in taking a Selfie. That being said the avatar makes us who we are as an identity. Its how we see ourselves whether we like a certain game, movie or book etc. In addition, the background should fit how the PlayStation is my favorite system. It should show how a person likes to roll even though it might be very cheesy at times. It is all apart of how we can identify ourselves as gamers. During the last generation of consoles it was quite easy to change both the avatar and the background but it is quite a struggle now just to do what I thought was a simple task. Good grief charlie brown. At least if they do add more customization features we can rejoice as a whole not be living a fools paradise.
Yet one thing that is limiting that seems big is the friend invite. It feels the most clumsiest when trying to invite my friends from my friends list to play Call of Duty or Kill zone, it gets frustrating at times. While it does feel cumbersome in most games to invite a person it could be much better. This “in game” process feels wrong and after going through several screens you finally get to send them a request seems that it needs some fixing. Granted it might seem like nit picking at this point, but after all this is the future I thought. For sure it would be a better system to invite people it could be worse. I am sure when this inviting system is fixed it would provide a smoother time in having fun with our friends online.
One of the smaller things there are is the ability to pause downloads for example when I turn off my console or when the power accidentally goes out due to a storm. Especially in the in the middle of downloading a digital copy of a game like Call of Duty where its a massive file. I am sure not the only one that feels inpatient for a new game to be downloaded just for the fun and thrill of playing the game.
Continuing on,Sony can work on is the need to deliver on the promise of “We are a games Machine.” Sony keeps taunting us about the frequency of how the first party exclusives will be released. Especially on how the AAA games have been taking a back seat lately. That being said the games such as infamous and kill-zone are a good launch title but to many those feel they could of been better. Beggars cant be choosers but I feel that Sony could of been better off by now.
It just seems the game industry as a whole needs new AAA games and I feel that the PlayStation can be that step in the right direction. A game that Sony could make a big hit with would be a Sci-fi game like mass effect. This could make up for a good solid game that the system as a whole is lacking. A game that grabs my attention that makes me say WOW OMG this is a good game. A game that could make me not want to put down the controller or turn off the console. Something that draws me in. I mustn’t be dreaming am I? Another dangerous alien aboard, Commander. Thanks. Why can’t you collect coins or commemorative plates or something? (Yes a mass effect reference.) That is the type of example of a good sci fi game with good writing and game play that can haul serious gaming time that I feel that the PlayStation is missing. The PlayStation has a lot of good games like KillZone, Uncharted, God of War but it just feels a new IP on a new console could sell more units as an whole.
On the other hand I feel that the small indie games such as Child of light, transistor or outlast are all good indie games. Granted a grace time should be allowed for game devs to work on more better games. It took approximately 18 months before some of the best work started to come out on the PS3 such as Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4, Bio Shock to name a few.
To conclude more attention to customization to the PS4 like avatar pictures, background changing and more triple A games would improve the system.
The writer of this article is a complete douche. He took time out of his way to troll a tweet by Call of Duty. How childish can you be? Very unprofessional and shows just how idiotic smaller game blogs like this are.
