Drumhellar #6 Review

Let me start this review by saying that this was my first time reading Drumhellar and I had no idea what to expect. Knowing Image and being a huge fan of Saga I knew that this comic could literally go in any direction, and instead of going in one direction, it seems like Drumhellar #6 went in ALL directions. For those who don’t know, Drumhellar follows the story of a paranormal detective, aptly named Drum Hellar, who is lead to various murder cases by his werewolf ex-girlfriend Lupe and from there, things get weird.

Fans of the series will already know this, but for those newcomers, Drumhellar has a lot going for it. Murder, sex, psychedelic visions, and supernatural stuff just to name a few, not to mention the incredible art by Riley Rossmo. What keeps you looked into this book is, just like Saga, you don’t know what’s going to happen next. I found myself dying to find out what happened with the ominous murder that is quickly shown in the beginning of the book, but at the same time profoundly intrigued by what I was looking at in the pages between. My only gripe with this book, while this isn’t really a drawback at all, is that at times this book just got way too weird. Weird to the point where I really wasn’t sure what was going on.

But despite this small nitpick, fans of books like Saga should definitely look into Drumhellar and this new arc, and with the series taking a break until 2015, you’ll have plenty of time to catch-up when its’ first trade paperback goes on sale this October. Stay tuned to We The Nerdy for more from Drumhellar and Image comics.
