31 Days of Horror: Day 19- Even Lambs Have Teeth

It’s Day 19 boys and girls on our horrific hike, and today’s feature is the 2015 revenge thriller with a great title, Even Lambs Have Teeth. Katie (Tiera Skovbye) and Sloane (Kirsten Prout) are best friends on their way to work on an organic farm in upstate New York so they can go on a week long shopping trip in New York City. Dropped off by Katie’s uncle , Jason (Michael Karl Richards), who works for the FBI, the girls decide to accept a ride from two local boys (Garrett Black and Jameson Parker). The girls begin to think this was a bad idea when the guys pass the farm, only to take them to their own place, where their mother feeds them drugged pie. Seems the girls have gotten captured by some backwoods sex slavers. The girls eventually escape, but now have decided some payback is in order.

As a revenge movie, Even Lambs Have Teeth is somewhat satisfying. It’s a bit of an abrupt change for the girls to go from frightened victims to cold psychopathic killers. Only one kill is a bit brutal and clever, the others are your standard fare. Classic dispatches, and done with a gleeful attitude, but nothing we haven’t seen before. Skovbye (Riverdale) and Prout (Joy Ride 3: Road Kill) and somewhat likeable, even though it’s hard at first to have sympathy for them when they make the stupid move of accepting a ride from strangers. Once they begin their bloody vengeance, they certainly look like they’re having fun. The cast is serviceable in their roles, you can tell this was a low budget flick. It’s on the short side, clocking in at under 80 minutes, so it makes for a quick, okay thriller to check out. Now showing on Amazon Prime. 6.5/10 stars
