According to the sneaker enthusiast website Sole Collector, Back to the Future II’s power laces will become a reality next year. Designer Tinker Hatfield confirmed the news at the Jordan Brand’s Flight Lab this past Friday. No word yet on a specific release date or whether or not the power laces will be on the Nike MAGs or on a new model.
The Nike MAGs were modeled after the same shoes that Michael J. Fox wore in the film and were released back in 2011. Nike produced 1,500 pairs and all pairs were auctioned off through Ebay, garnering over $6 million, with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. While the shoes were identical they did not feature the aforementioned power laces.
“Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say yes!” said Hatfield. No word yet on hoverboards or Mr. Fusion, but we’ll let you know.
Stay tuned to We The Nerdy as we bring more news on these and other futuristic innovations.
