We love the Ghostbusters. We love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The only thing we could possibly love more is if they existed in the same universe. So, of course, IDW had decided to make that fantasy a reality. This October, the Turtles will be universe-hopping right on over to an alternate New York City- full of ghosts.
In honor of both series’ 30th anniversaries long time writers Tom Waltz and Erik Burnham are cooperating on a crossover that’s been in the works for some time. They’re not giving much of the plot away, saying only that a malfunctioning invention will take our favorite oversized turtles to the Ghostbusters’ New York, and that it won’t take long for the group to realize that something may have tagged along. The mini series will be edited by Bobby Curnow, who called the idea “a natural choice, especially when you consider the fact that Tom and Erik have worked on both properties for years.”
He also made sure to note that “This one should be an absolute blast!”
Dan Schoening (long time artist for Ghostbusters) will provide art for the books, inside and out and issue #1 will have a variant cover by T-Rex Jones.
I can’t think of anything I’m more excited to see this fall. It only took 30 years of two quirky, science-y squads before bringing them together, I may explode from excitement while waiting to see the result.
