Google To Buy Twitch For $1 Billion

Rumors surfaced, back in May, that Google was planning to purchase live streaming platform Twitch by way of 2006 acquisition YouTube. The buyout was reportedly set at $1 billion, a hefty sum considering the large figures already invested in Twitch by corporations like Take-Two Interactive and others. Google has reached a deal to buy game livestreaming firm Twitch for $1 billion, according to sources familiar with the matter.

As the world’s largest platform for live broadcasts, Twitch’s purchase could have significant impacts on the way folks in the  game community view events they cannot attend in person for example E3 and Gamescom.

Google and Twitch declined comment. However, this deal was first cited by unnamed sources from Variety said back in May that Google had made an all-cash offer and that the deal could be announced soon.

We still don’t know everything about the deal that has been struck. For example, when it will be announced and the exact purchase price but keep tuned in as we are sure to be hearing some solid information soon enough.
