Marvel Phase 3 Movies Revealed

Kevin Feige might have broken the nerdy part of the internet with the slew of movie release dates revealed at the Marvel Studio Event. The event was mainly dedicated to Phase 3 news, and Marvel delivered on that front. With WB’s recent announcement of their schedule, the pressure was on Marvel, but they seem to have easily matched that announcement. After the leaked trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron was shown again, Feige proceeded to reveal the schedule for movies with any quotes or descriptions about them.

Captain America 3: Civil War – May 6, 2016

Yes, Marvel has officially announced that they are adapting Civil War. Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans were also seen  towards the end of the event with Evans saying “This is heartbreaking for me”.

Dr Strange – November 4, 2016

Feige briefly talked about the background of character and said that the movie “Opens up a whole new world for the cinematic universe”. The movie will be directed by Scott Derrickson,

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 – May 5, 2017

Not a lot was revealed about the movie, however, there was a brief video message from director, Jamed Gunn.

Thor: Ragnarok – July 28, 2017

“Ragnarok means the end of all things”, said Feige. The crowd was ecstatic by this point of the event, but the bombshells continued.

Black Panther – November 3, 2017

One of the biggest announcements, the Black Panther movie will star Chadwick Boseman as the lead character. Boseman was seen as Downey said, “Welcome to the fray, get used to that applause”. In response to which side he would pick(Captain America vs Iron Man in Civil War), he said, “Black Panther is kind of his own guy”. He also thanked the fans and said, “I’m blessed to be apart of this Marvel Universe, to work with you both, and to make magic together”. Fans were going wild at this point of time.

Captain Marvel – July 6, 2018

Based on fan reactions, this announcement was arguably the biggest. The Captain Marvel movie will be the first Marvel movie to feature a woman as the sole protagonist. Feige confirmed that Captain Marvel would indeed be Carol Danvers.

Inhumans – November 2, 2018

The Inhumans will probably be a movie revolving around a team, much like Guardians or the Avengers.

Of course, Feige saved the best for the last. Although fans have long awaited the announcement, this was the somewhat more real. Feige introduced the movie by saying, “The beginning of a culmination of everything that has come before”. This was followed by a montage of prior Marvel movies and a shot of the Infinity Gauntlet, and the announcement that blew everyone’s minds.

Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1, May 4, 2018

Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2, May 3, 2019

The two part movie will undoubtedly be the most talked about movie in the coming years. The announcement was too much to handle for me, and I’m glad the event didn’t include any other bombshells.

The Marvel executives seem to know what they’re doing and have a clear plan in mind. Feige said, “As you can see, we have a hell of a lot of work to do”, indicating the massive groundwork needed for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to bloom and truly expand.
