With today’s release of this teaser image for Planet Hulk, coming Summer 2015, Marvel continues to tease events that are causing a lot of comic readers to feel like they’re suffering from deja vu. Unlike the recent Civil War image, this teaser does not leave things open to the interpretation that Marvel is planning on taking out the characters that they don’t own the film rights to. Also, unlike the previous image, there doesn’t appear to be a link to the storyline of the original Planet Hulk. This time we’ve got an assortment of Hulks, a shirtless Steve Rogers wielding an axe in addition to his shield, and… well… Devil Dinosaur. It’s hard to tell who’s supposed to be on whose side in this image. Is Cap about to get gobbled up by Devil Dinosaur? Are the two about to tussle with the Hulk variety pack? Do these announcements seem absurd absurd? Yes. Confusing? Most definitely. Are we all likely at least a little bit excited right now for the possibility of some Hulks on Cap on Devil Dinosaur action in whatever configuration it may be? Positively!
So, the question of what exactly Marvel is up with these teaser images remains. Only time will tell, and I don’t think there’s any way to accurately guess what’s going on right now.
