In a pre-recorded interview for a guest appearance on this Friday’s episode of Alan Carr’s Chatty Man, Martin Freeman spoke candidly about the future of BBC’s hit show Sherlock. Freeman, who stars as Dr. John Watson on the show, was hesitant to provide specifics, mentioning a few times that a timeline for series four is impossible to predict due to time constraints for the show’s writers and producers as well as the actors. However, he is reported to have said something that fans will go wild over,
“There is an idea for this one-off special that’s such a good idea Alan, and as I was listening to it I thought we’ve just got to do this.”
While he followed this teaser with more words of caution, reminding us all that he has no idea when the cast and crew could come together to film a special episode, executive producer Steven Moffat’s projections that series four will release sometime in 2016 could mean a Sherlock special some time next year.
Martin Freeman is currently appearing in the FX show Fargo Tuesday nights at 10 and can be seen on film as Bilbo Baggins in the newly named The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies this December.
