Yesterday, on their official Titanfall twitter account, Respawn teased that they would reveal their “biggest update” ever on a twitch stream this morning. Well, We the Nerdy tuned in, and are on hand to bring you the highlights from the 8th update to EA’s massive robot-stomping shooter.
The most significant change is the addition of a new mode called Frontier Defense. In this mode you, and up to 3 friends, will defend an objective against wave after wave of AI controlled opponents. You’ll be pitted up against everything from your run-of-the-mill grunts, to suicide spectres, nuclear titans and more. The mode also contains new features like the ability to switch load outs using in-map crates, and while waiting to respawn you will be able to shoot out of your drop ship into the battlefield below. This mode will be available to all players on all maps including DLC.
Also announced are a few other modes, including a Ranked Play mode, available in Beta only for now. In order to receive an automatic Beta invite, you must be Gen 10 (all those hours were worth it!). And then those players are
permitted to invite lower Gen players – 5 at first and then 3 more per day. They’ve also added a Sudden Death mode to CTF, where in the event of a tie, the game will continue until one team captures their opponents flag. And releasing November 5th (Remember, remember) is perhaps one of the more interesting new modes. It’s called Deadly Floor, or as We the Nerdy staffer Kierra Prince put it “Oh my god, they’re introducing a Floor is Lava game mode.” In this mode the ground will be covered in that pesky electric smoke, forcing you and your team to wall-run, hang and do all those ninja-like things that make the “Xbox, Record that” feature so good.
In addition to the new modes there have been improvements to load times, general UI fixes, bug fixes, new insignias, Titan OS voices, gameplay optimizations and more. To read all the full update check out Titanfall’s official site here.
I don’t know about you guys, but this update has my old trigger finger twitching. Will you be Preparing for Titanfall all over again? Let us know in the comments below!
And for reference’s sake, here’s what we thought of Titanfall when it dropped back in March of this year.
