In the wee hours of this morning, Sony of Japan held a press conference showcasing some of their unique titles coming out soon. A ton of cool things were announced. Here’s the news that will (or likely will) affect the folks on this side of the pond.
*All dates listed are Japanese release dates unless otherwise noted
- The news is mostly for the PS4 system, but other systems will be noted as well
- Bloodborne will launch on February 5th and the first run will come with an artbook and mini-soundtrack. Hopefully this means that Bloodborne will be out by the end of summer in the states.
- An extended trailer was shown for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, which will feature the three DLC characters and at least one new stage. DoA5: LR will be released in the spring.
- Disgaea 5 gets announced and will be out sometime in 2015.
- A new trailer was shown for the Grasshopper Manufacture title “Let it Die”. Let it Die is free to play and will be on demo at Tokyo Game Show in a couple weeks.
- In what is my favorite news of the day, Persona 5 will be released on both the PS3 and PS4. A trailer was shown as well.
- PS4 update 2.00 will include the ability to set a theme for the PS4 home screen so it doesn’t have that sterile blue look. A new update for the Vita will also give it the same ability.
- Some footage of the remake of the original Resident Evil was shown and it looked pretty smooth. In addition, a teaser trailer was shown for Resident Evil: Revelations 2 was shown. Revelations 2 will not feature Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine like the original did, and will come out on the PS3 as well. Revelations 2 will launch early next year and the game will be playable at Tokyo Game Show.
- A Dragon Quest/Dynasty Warriors hybrid game was shown for both PS4 and PS3. Dragon Quest Heroes looked pretty impressive as the characters mowed through dozens of the series iconic enemies. A special edition PS4 modeled after the metal slime (think silver) was shown as well and looked pretty cool. Sadly, this seems like one of the titles that ends up missing an American release, but at this point no one knows.
- In other unlikely to come to America news, a Yakuza prequel is in the works and stars Kazuma and Goro from the Sega franchise. Yakuza Zero takes place in 1988 and will chronicle Kazuma’s rise to become a prominent member of the Yakuza. The game will launch in the Spring of 2015.
With Tokyo Game Show in a couple weeks, hopefully some more news on these games will come to light. Keep an eye on We The Nerdy for more information.
