Sherlock Holmes has seen some peaks and troughs in popularity. After the popular movie series with Robert Downey Jr., the character was revived to the modern generation. However, the introduction of BBC’s Sherlock played by Benedict Cumberbatch has truly made Sherlock Holmes an icon in households today.
The trailer for the latest game in Frogwares’s Sherlock Holmes series, Crimes and Punishments, was released at E3 2014.
The trailer shows crisp, beautifully rendered graphics, which comes as no surprise, considering the game is rendered using the Unreal engine. The game features an interesting gameplay mechanic in which the player can make moral choices, as is hinted in the title. The player can also fail a case with wrong deduction. Taking a hint from the BBC show, Sherlock, the gameplay also has ‘Sherlock Vision’ to spot particularly obscure clues. The game looks great and the introduction of the game to the next-gen consoles also opens a door for Frogwares. Only time will tell if the new game can make a big impact on the gaming populace.
