It looks like despite complications and departures, the Sinister Six movie is still happening, as well as a third Amazing Spider-Man movie, but they’re coming later than expected. Today Sony announced that the villains’ movie will be released on November 11, 2016, as for the webhead, well, we’ll have to wait all the way to 2018 to see him on theaters again.
While no solid release date was given to The Amazing Spider-Man 3, it does show that Sony’s original plan went out the window. Initially, the third movie would hit on June 10, 2016 (that date is now filled by the Uncharted movie) and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 on May 4, 2018. No detailes were shared as to what happens to the fourth movie now, all we know is that the neighborhood’s friend will stay four years off-screen.
This comes after rumours that Sinister Six had been canceled, and the departure of writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman from the Amazing Spider-Man series of films. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hit theaters this year and while it did a lot of money, it was the lowest-grossing Spider-Man movie to date.
