Ania Solo is one of best characters from the now-deceased Star Wars Expanded Universe, so she would tend to be forgotten. Thankfully, Ania’s creators, Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman, keep releasing new issues and trades in the Star Wars Legacy series. Recently, Dark Horse released a trade compiling issues #11-15 of Ania Solo’s tale, and it is a fantastic piece that tells a tale of her time as a criminal.
Wanted: Ania Solo follows the story of Ania and her crew as they are running from the Imperial Knights. Apparently, Ania has been accused of murder, and a bounty has been placed on her head. Ania convinces her crew—including Imperial Knight Jao Assam—of her innocence, and they set out on a journey around the Outer Rim. Unfortunately, this journey does not go well.
Ania spends the entire book being pursued by multiple bounty hunters, which results in her being captured. Ania’s crew splits their time between searching for her and trying to figure out a very foggy past. While this is happening, an Imperial Knight named Val is researching Ania’s murder to figure out the important details. A lot to take in, but the information is split very well between the issues.
Star Wars Legacy II Volume 3 is a fantastic collection. The trade combines a very interesting run of issues that focus on Ania’s time as a wanted criminal while avoiding bounty hunters. The main reason why this trade is so fantastic is Ania Solo. She is a phenomenal character with a knack for getting into trouble and causing havoc. Legacy II Volume 3 perfectly showcases Ania’s personality, and it should be immediately added to your Star Wars collection.
