Welcome to the twenty eighth instalment of the wish list bringing you what comics we, Comics Section Editors Oscar Russell & Joel Raivid, are looking forward to each and every week. So if you are deciding how to spend your money this week on New Comic Book Day, don’t worry, we got you covered!!
Oscar and I hope you are enjoying the new comics podcast which you can check out by subscribing on iTunes. Last week saw the release of some huge comics, this week is no different with DC releasing the next issue in Pak’s awesome Action Comics run and Buccellato and Manapul’s Detective Comics. Marvel meanwhile have some cool stuff coming out with the second issues of Ant-Man, and Unbeatable Squirrel-Girl, and of course the second issue of Star Wars. From other publishers we have Valiant giving us, the launch of Imperium and, for the second week in a row, its biggest seller X-O Manowar, while Image have the new issues of Saga, Birthright, Nailbiter, Velvet, Wytches, WOW! So much to choose!!!
Here are a handful we are particularly looking forward to and think you should pick up!
Superman #38

So excited for this! New suit and new power!! This new creative team has been spectacular since they took over the book, and this week I feel we are in for a treat. It’s the conclusion of the first arc and I think there are plenty of surprises still to be had. Plus John Romita Jr. draws Batman! Can’t wait!!
Hawkeye #21

The Finale Part 1! Finally!! I think we are going to be seeing the culmination of everything we have seen over the past 20 issues come to a climax. If I am being honest, I can’t remember everything that was happening but I remember guys in tracksuits, Clint being the building owner and the guys in the tracksuits seriously angry about it. And Kate something about LA, I think! Never mind, still go pick this up, it’s gonna be great!!

This one has success written all over it, just look at the creative team! It is all very mysterious in terms of what this book is about, but I am guessing it is going to be mysterious. Image have some huge books out this week so to put this out this week too, they have a crazy amount of confidence in it and why wouldn’t they it just shouts exciting! The solicit doesn’t say much, but that isn’t going to stop anyone picking it up. Oh and if you want to know what We The Nerdy thought of it, check out the review here.
