real_ghostbusters_comic_01Ghostbusters Get Real #1

Written by: Erik Burnham

Art by: Dan Schoening

Publisher: IDW

I am a huge, HUGE, Ghostbusters fan so this is a no brainer for me, but the team that brought us the excellent Ghostbusters series are now bringing us the second most requested mashup in my mind. Having the Real Ghostbusters from the animated series that aired from the late 80s to the early 90s meet up with the movie Ghostbusters is going to give fans of either a smile on their face that they may not wipe off for a long time.

STK674614Alex + Ada #15

Written by: Jonathan Luna & Sarah Vaughn

Art by: Jonathan Luna

Publisher: Image

It’s a sad day, no doubt about it! This series has perhaps been one of my favourite Image ongoings for as long as I can remember, and it’s strange because I always felt like it was only me who was reading it. The series, as a whole, has been so thought provoking let alone beautifully written and illustrated, it has been a truly great Sci-Fi Rom Com. I wouldn’t recommend picking up this issue if you haven’t read any of the previous 14 issues, but if you have that it is a must have, and if you haven’t go buy some trades people!!

ARCHMPR-3-FC-FNL-4x6-a7bc9-06207Archie vs. Predator #3

Written by: Alex De Campi

Art by: Fernando Ruiz

Publisher: Archie Comics

Last issue was a complete bloodbath as the Predator came to Riverdale to reclaim his stolen artefact. This issue promises to ramp up the intensity as well as the funny moments synonymous with Archie Comics. This is very much one of the most unexpected comic hits in recent memory and with just two issues remaining the question is whether or not anyone in Riverdale will be left alive by the end.

STK663655Secret Six #3

Written by: Gail Simone

Art by: Dale Eaglesham and Ken Lashley

Publisher: DC Comics

The relaunched Secret Six is an entirely different beast from the original, almost like “Saw” but with superheroes, which is paying off with a book that is full of intrigue, mystery and secrets. Gail Simone has crafted some unique and interesting characters, each with their own secrets which I’m dying to know more about, with Eaglesham and Lashley delivering some great surreal yet beautiful art. So far, the book has been hampered by an odd release schedule but with the newest relaunch however, the book can hopefully get back on track and go full steam ahead from here on out, making for the perfect time to jump on board. With a great hook, creators on top of their game and only two issues to catch up on, this should definitely be on your radar.

Lazarus_17Lazarus #17

Written by: Greg Rucka

Art by: Michael Lark

Publisher: Image

Lazarus, Greg Rucka and Michael Lark’s dystopian masterpiece, has consistently been one of the best ongoing series being published. Recent issues have only presented new heights for the series, with intensified stakes and a heightened pace. While the previous issue, #16, served as an interlude of sorts, issue #17 promises to deliver our first real look into the post-Conclave world. We haven’t really seen where the main characters are as a result of the events of issue #15, and so this is exciting. This arc is looking to be interesting for reasons different from previous arcs. Lazarus has long relied on telling small, personal stories, but issue #17 will show us a large, sweeping conflict between the families. This is unlike anything we have seen from Lazarus to date, and I’m eager to see how Rucka and Lark handle it.

a We the Nerdy Black Canary 1 Annie WuBlack Canary #1

Written by: Brendan Fletcher

Art by: Annie Wu

Publisher: DC Comics

A few months back, DC Comics completely changed the landscape of Batgirl by bringing in writer Brendan Fletcher along with Cameron Stewart and artist Babs Tarr. The result was an instant success, with fans (Like me) clamoring for more. Black Canary spins out of the events of the series, with the title character becoming the lead singer in a punk rock band (That also shares her name). The preview was everything I could ask for, with the dazzling Annie Wu making a big splash with her proper DC debut. Having previously worked on Batgirl beyond and Hawkeye, Wu is an extremely versatile talent and I’m very excited to see what her and Fletcher can bring to this incredible character.

Which books are you looking forward to this Wednesday, let us know in the comments……
