The Gronk’s Party Bus is Heading to Madden 17

One more year, one more Madden Curse to worry about.

EA Sports announced on Thursday that Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is the new cover athlete for Madden 17. The Gronk is coming off another dominant season in which he caught 72 passes for 1,176 yards and 11 touchdowns, “wrote” a book, and landed a GQ cover.

Why is a new Madden cover important? Well, it kickstarts the time of year in which EA covers all of the gameplay tweaks and reveals the updated ratings for each player. Much like previous cover athletes, Gronk’s presence indicates that he will achieve the coveted “99” overall rating shared with players like Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald, Troy Polamalu, and Drew Brees.

EA also celebrated the cover reveal by unveiling a new trailer that mixes gameplay and real footage. This current iteration of Madden appears to be much prettier, but how will the gameplay change? Madden 16 included a multitude of buttons for various catches, making the game more entertaining to play. Hopefully, some new additions will keep improving EA Sports main franchise.

Expect EA to unveil new information and footage during the week of E3.
