Sugar. Spice. Everything nice. Plus, a secret ingredient- Chemical X.
The Powerpuff Girls will return to Cartoon Network in 2016, according to the network’s cheif content officer, Rob Sorcher.
The series has an impressive history, having won two Emmys during its six year, 78 episode run as well as having inspired a full length feature film in 2003. Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup have remainded popular in the tv show’s absence, appearing in a tenth anniversary special and in this January’s CG special, The Powerpuff Girls:Dance Pantsed, which featured the voice of Ringo Starr as Fibbonaci Sequins.
“we are calling these girls back into action based upon an overwhelming demand for sugar, spice, and chemical X,” Sorcher said during his announcement. As he expounded on the great success of what he calls the “original ambassador of girl power” which garnered the network somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.5 billion in retail sales, he closed with a simple statement.

“With proven success and great content plans in place, there’s so much potential that we’re looking forward to explore with our licensing partners in the coming weeks.”
