31 Days of Horror 2018: Day 28- House on Willow Street

We’re down to our final fearsome four days, kiddies, and Day 28 brings us the 2016 South African flick House on Willow Street. For Hazel (Sharni Vinson) and her boyfriend Ade (Steven John Ward), kidnapping the daughter (Carlyn Burchell) of a wealthy diamond distributor is their last shot at leaving behind a criminal life and living like normal folks. They grab the girl along with partners Mark (Zino Ventura) and James (Gustav Gerdener), only to find out she comes from a house of evil and is possessed by a demonic force. 8/10 stars

Despite some negative internet reviews, I really enjoyed this film. Director Alastair Orr (Indigenous) gets us right into the action, and once the gang find out what they’re up against, keeps the suspense up. The jump scares are typical but work, and though there are some strains of credibility in the plot, the cast pulls things off nicely. The CGI effects are decent, though nothing outstanding. Worth a look. Now showing on Netflix and available on Blu-ray/DVD.
