Arrow’s Suicide Squad Line Up Unveiled

Following the news that the sixteenth episode of Arrow’s second season will be entitled “Suicide Squad,” CBR has debuted the first photos of the show’s incarnation of the iconic team, which is a decidedly… unique take on the team. Of course, int he source material, this is a team that is perpetually changing, so just because this is going to be the first incarnation of the Squad that we see doesn’t mean that it will be the last.

This line up is mostly as many fans predicted, consisting of, from left to right, Michael Jai White’s Ben Turner (Bronze Tiger), Sean Meher’s Michael Sheffer (Shrapnel), Cynthia Addai-Robinson’s Amanda Waller, and Michale Rowe’s Floyd Lawton (Deadshot). Seems like a relatively small team, right? Well… Executive Producer Michael Guggenheim has said that episode 16 will be very Diggle-centric. The reason for that?

Yup. Diggle will be a member of the six member team. In addition to the above-mentioned characters the team is rounded out by Audrey Marie Anderson as Lyla Michaels and, of course, David Ramsey as John Diggle. This is possibly the most surprising revelation about the show’s incarnation of the Suicide Squad.

In addition to this news, we were treated to some more interesting news about the Suicide Squad episode of the show. Because it focuses heavily on John Diggle’s character, we will be getting flashbacks from his point of view, picking up questions that were left unanswered in last season’s “Trust But Verify.” In this episode, we meet the Blackhawks, who were lead by Diggle’s former commanding officer, played by Ben Browder. Browder will return for this episode, in which we will witness events referenced in “Trust But Verify,” as Diggle and his team rescue Golam Kadir during their time in Afghanistan.

“Suicide Squad” will air Thursday, March 19th on The CW.
