According to a report from Variety, Marvel Studios is developing a stand alone movie for Scarlett Johanesson’s Black Widow. Black Widow has appeared, so far, in two of the Marvel movies released in Phases 1 and 2; Iron Man 2 and The Avengers. In addition to this, she is set to play a major role in the upcoming sequel to Captain America, entitled Captain America: the Winter Soldier.
According to Chris Evans, who has portrayed Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, says that her story line will involve “her coming to terms with her past,” a theme that studio head Kevin Fiege has said will be continued into 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, a sequel to the 2012 blockbuster. It is likely that the events of this movie will lead into a Black Widow movie, which, in all likelihood, will stand next to the likes of Ant-Man and Thor 3 in Marvel’s Phase 3 line up, though there was no official announcement as to when this movie will be released.
