The latest collection of older Castlevania games features three Nintendo DS titles, along with an arcade game that previously was only available in Japan. There are some extras, and some quality of life improvements. The three games- The Order of Ecclesia, Portrait of Ruin, and Dawn of Sorrow– all take place early in the franchise’s storyline.
PROS
Quality of life improvements
Decent stories
Can choose original or new soundtracks
Controls well for the most part
Colorful updated graphics
CONS
Games can be difficult to the point of frustration
Very grind heavy
Minimal voice acting
While nicely packaged with good quality of life improvements, the Castlevania Dominus Collection is more for die-hard fans and those who are completionists. The games can be very grind heavy, and can be difficult to the point of frustration. The Order of Ecclesia fares the best here in my opinion, having the more compelling story and lead character. It won’t be for everyone, but for long time fans who originally played these on the Nintendo DS this is a nice title to add to your playlist.
