Director James Mangold took to Twitter Saturday to announce that he is officially returning to Fox Studios to direct the sequel to last year’s The Wolverine. The film will begin production following 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse so we can expect the next solo film featuring everyone’s favorite mutant as early as 2017. Mangold is also developing the treatment for the film.
However, the character’s iconic actor has yet to sign on for this new installment. Hugh Jackman has been portraying Wolverine since 2000’s X-Men and many have recently discussed the question of how much longer he will hold the role. Be sure to check out Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past May 23, 2014 and stay tuned to We The Nerdy for more X-Men news.
