Microsoft brought out every big gun you could imagine (aside from the conspicuously missing Gears of War) today at their Press Conference. From Fable to Halo, a slew of indie games, and world premiere announcements for games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Phil Spencer pulled no punches and delivered on his promise of “Games! Games! Games!” with 90 minutes of games.
The show opened with Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, taking the stage to briefly address everyone and explain that the beginning of the show will highlight games that will be coming to Xbox this year. He then added that the second half of the show will be all new games, new IP, sequels, and refreshes of classic brands. Most importantly, he explained that the entire show would be dedicated to games. He wasn’t lying.

In a sign of the new direction things are moving, the show opened with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (a franchise that usually headlines the Microsoft stage at the end) with an extended on stage gameplay demo of the campaign. With a focus on future tech, the game looked almost alien from the traditional, drab, modern shooter, we’ve come to expect from Activision.
Next up Turn 10 took the stage to announce the fabled Nurburing is coming to Forza Motorsport 5 for free. Then they debuted in game footage of Forza Horizon 2, revealing series firsts of a day/night cycle and dynamic weather. The open world driving game also includes clubs of up to 1000 members.
