Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth Quick Time Review

Developer: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio

Publisher: Sega

Release date: January 26, 2024

Available on: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S (reviewed on the Xbox S)

The ninth mainline title in the Like A Dragon series, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth follows Kasuga and Kiryu as the action moves from Japan to Hawaii. The turn based combat has been tweaked from previous titles, with characters being able to move within a set circle. New jobs have been added, and a host of minigames add to the fun. New minigames include a take off on Sega’s Crazy Taxi series called Crazy Delivery, and the Pokemon parody Sujimon Battle. The game unfolds over 14 chapters, giving anywhere from 50 to 100 hours of gameplay (depending on the amount of time spent with the side activities).

PROS

Great main story

Fun combat

Fun minigames and side activities

Large map to explore

Good job system

Plenty of content

CONS

Mediocre substories

Some slow parts

Some cut scenes may run too long for some

In all, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth improves over its predecessors. Turn based combat has been revamped, and there are plenty of side activities to distract players from the well written main story. Old characters fron the series return, as well as new characters introduced. It can be a major time sink, with 100 hours of gameplay easy to amass, but outside of some slower sections, the ride is well worth taking, making this one of the best titles in the series.
