IN SUMMARY:

If you like old-school Resident Evil and dinosaurs, this game is a no-brainer for pick up. Admittedly, I did not play the first Fossilfuel, so I don’t know how it compares there, but this game wants to make me pick up the first and anything else this studio puts out. Many dino games that get pumped out are subpar, with a few bright spots, so this was a great surprise. The story is a bit cheesy but is serviceable for what’s presented here. For an indie studio, the graphics are very nice and rival AAA titles. Sound design is top notch and atmosphere is almost always tense with great pacing. The biggest issue would probably be the platforming sections. It would be nice if the character could grab or climb up ledges. Like many survival horrors, there is also a lot of backtracking. This may bother some and be fine for others. I personally would also like a bit more checkpoints or save areas, but again, that’s more subjective as to whether that’s an issue or not. Checkpoint placement isn’t necessarily bad, but some stuff got a little annoying to have to redo. Would score this a solid 8.5/10.
