After the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #1 was leaked a couple of days ago, the internet was set ablaze with rumors of Peter Parker’s return as Spider-Man. Well now, it’s been confirmed that he is coming back as Spider-Man, fully in control of his own body, in April with the debut of All New Marvel Now’s Amazing Spider-Man series, written by Dan Slott (Superior Spider-Man, Arkham Unhinged) and drawn by Humberto Ramos (Superior Spider-Man). This was confirmed by the NY Daily News just today. Superior Spider-Man writer Dan Slott has allegedly known of Peter Parker’s return since before his death in Amazing Spider-Man #700 in December of 2012, so all of this has been part of the plan for Spider-Man for some time.
The question now becomes this: What will happen to Superior Spider-Man? How will that series be wrapped up? Will it even end? At this time, we do not know what role Amazing Spider-Man and Superior Spider-Man will play after the events that lead to the return of Peter Parker in April. This is in line with a lot of fan speculation that Peter would be back before Amazing Spider-Man 2 was released, and Dan Slott allegedly told Andrew Garfield that his character would be back in the world of comics. Slott also says that this was “the hardest thing he’s ever done.”
