Earlier today Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his apartment in Greenwich Village, New York, after an apparent drug overdose.
Hoffman is known for being an acting chameleon, frequently taking on new and unique roles across a plethora of genres. He has been both a crucial presence and a welcome bonus in countless films, and is probably best known for his Oscar-winning portrayal of Truman Capote in Capote.
Hoffman’s death is a tragic blow to the film industry, which lost one of the most talented actors of this generation. Unfortunately this is yet another case in which the world has lost a great artist too early.
