Pros
- Grips on triggers feel more comfortable and akin to a pro controller than I expected and ones I prefer to use over the standard controller.
- Thumbsticks feel very responsive and work great in all the games I tested it with.
- Built in audio amp is next level when usng a 3.5mm headset with it to the point I was speechless with how much it improved the audio in the headset.
- Audio controls are easy to get to and to know what setting is enabled/disabled.
- Long USB-C cord allows for a good distance to use with the controller.
- PC/Xbox One/Series S+X compatibility makes it a versatile controller.
Cons
- Lack of an app to further customize audio presets stink.
- I wish it has a wireless option 🙁
- Odd PC pairing issue at first.
In Summary
The Recon controller is a game-changer in the third-party controller market. Not only does it feel better than a standard Xbox controller, but the audio improvements it provides to a wired headset are astounding. It would be one thing if this was just a Turtle Beach to Turtle Beach thing, but I tested with Astro A10s, A40s, and a pair of Skullcandy earbuds for giggles and a generic pair I bought at Five Below, and ALL were significantly different when using the Recon. With the cheaper price tag than a normal Xbox controller, the better feel, and the audio improvements you get with this its a no brainer that this is the must-buy Xbox controller for 2021 and beyond
