José Padilha, director of the recently released Robocop remake, is going to command the Netflix exclusive show Narco, and with him comes actor Wagner Moura, who worked with Padilha in the great Brazilian movies Elite Squad and Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, and recently starred in Elysium.
Narco will tackle the true story of Pablo Escobar, played by Moura, chief of the Colombian cartel, who became one of the richest men alive thanks to his cocaine trafficking operations. Padilha is responsible for the story and will direct all of first season’s 13 episodes. Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard are the screen writers and Eric Newman will be the show’s executive producer.
Despite the Brazilian star power, Narco will be filmed in English and Spanish. Padilha recetly wrapped up publicity for Robocop, and is now moving to new projects, including a sci-fi flick for Warner Pictures and a movie about the Triple Frontier.
