With the football World Cup fast approaching, I thought it would be a fun idea to put together a Super Hero line up that would be able to take on the best in the world. Yes, I know probably most of the “players” in this team have probably never touched a ball in their life, but this is just for fun so hold on to your horses.
I am going with a basic 4-4-2 formation. So that is one in Goal, 4 in defense, 4 in midfield and 2 up front in attack.
I have taken a super powers into consideration for this, and have picked relevant positions accordingly.
Goalkeeper
One of the key features of any good goalkeeper is reach and adaptability, and Mr Fantastic has that in spades. Whether it is reaching for those shots that are just out of reach for your regular goalie, or covering the goal from tight angles Mr Fantastic has well…got it covered.
This really is a powerhouse of a defense and I can’t really see many players getting past this. Talk about parking the bus on the line, this is really taking it to the next extreme. Admittedly there is not much speed in this back four, but I think that is made up by having Colossus and Killowog out on the sides.
So we are playing with a classic here, two fast paced wingers on the sides in The Flash and Quicksilver. Not much is going to stop them darting down the wings, also they will scare the bejesus out of the opponents defense when they can’t see what’s coming. In the middle of the pack we have Wolverine, playing in the Vinnie Jones hard man role not taking anything from what’s coming at him and also not afraid to put his foot in for a challenge when required. Also closing off the middle is Batman, he is the brains of the midfield and the creative play-maker never missing an open opportunity.
Every team needs a striker that can hit the target, and they don’t come much better in that department than Green Arrow. If he aims a football like he can a bow and arrow then he will be unstoppable. Rounding off the eleven is Hal Jordan, two things that make him my final pick. One, he has a solid relationship with Green Arrow, so if they can turn that on on the pitch than thumbs up. And two, he can fly so we have our clinical finisher for the high balls.
