The Comic Wish List: October 15th 2014

Welcome to the nineteenth instalment of the weekly feature bringing you comic book previews on what we are looking forward to each and every week. Brought to you by our Comics Section Editors, Oscar Russell & Joel Raivid, with the general rule being that they will pick one indie, one DC and one Marvel and if merited an honorable mention (or two) that they think you should go and splash your cash on.

So if you are deciding how to spend your money this week on New Comic Book Day, don’t worry, we got you covered!! Here are a handful we think you should pick up!

DC

Written by: Justin Jordan

Art by: Andrew Hennessy & Bradley Walker

The Green Lantern series’ have got their mojo back! Yes this is another lot of crossovers, but not since the days of Lights Out have I been excited for an issue of Green Lantern, that is until Godhead started. 3 issues down in this arc and it has been a lot of fun. Not only is it fun, but it draws on the only storyline that has been decent since Johns left the series. Godhead works really well as a crossover as it encompasses all that there is when it comes to the worlds of the Lanterns, so I for one continue to be excited by this storyline and can’t wait to see what this issue brings as it appears Kyle Rayner is the key part of this story.

MARVEL

Written by: Charles Soule

Art by: Steve McNiven

Are we ready? Is it finally here? Apparently yes! This is the issue where Wolverine is finally going to die. After the drawn out, and dull, 3 Months to Die, followed by 2 Months and subsequently 1 Month, I think we have reached the moment that the death might occur, well at least that is what we are being shown. Despite the terribleness that was the months to die storyline, the Death of Wolverine series has been fantastic and both Soule and McNiven have produced some of the best Wolverine work I have seen in a long time, so if it is the ending I am confident it will be a fitting one that is well written and looks incredible.

INDIE

Written by: Robbie Morrison

Publisher: Titan Comics

Titan Comics have been killing it with their Doctor Who comics, and despite only recently releasing the last issue of the Eleventh Doctor, they are right on the ball with the first issue of the Twelfth Doctor featuring the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi. I am pleased to say Titan have done it again and this is a really strong debut that all fans of Doctor Who should definitely be picking up. If this doesn’t convince you, then read our early review of the issue here
